Isle of Man elected as 90th country

The last week of June saw 89 countries from across the world attend the ICC Annual Conference at Lords. Many important discussions and decisions took place for the future development of cricket. One important decision was to accept three new member countries, one of which was the Isle of Man.

The island is a Crown Dependency, and although part of the British Isles is not part of the United Kingdom. The Isle of Man along with China and Mexico all qualify to ICC qualifications and were duly elected, taking the total of ICC member countries to 92.

The week included the European Cricket Council Annual General Meeting where 20 of the 23 member countries were represented. Not only was it a great opportunity to catch up with news and issues from the countries, but it was an ideal time to plan ahead. Many new initiatives were taken on board by the countries and this will hopefully aid further development within Europe.
