A First for Coaching & Development

Europe Office

From the 29th November to the 3rd December the EDP will be hosting a Coaching and Development Conference in the wonderful facilities of the MCC Indoor Cricket School at Lord’s Cricket Ground. The conference is the first of its type to be run in the region and will provide an opportunity for an exciting team of talented coaches and development officers from European Associate and Affiliate member countries to meet and discuss different coaching practices and learn new coaching skills.
The main content of the programme will consist of the newly launched ICC Introduction to Cricket Course, Instructor Training. The four regions of the ICC Development Program have agreed to implement a training methodology aimed at developing a high standard of local instructors within countries to run the new ICC course.

The overall aim of the ICC Introduction to Cricket Course is to provide participants with a basic understanding of the game of cricket, a basic education in three components (playing/coaching, umpiring and scoring) and the skills and resources to conduct a cricket session with children. Participants who attend the instructor training at Lord’s will be able to conduct this course back in their home countries.
Throughout the conference attendees will also be involved in active sessions and informative lectures on many different areas of the game. These sessions are to be run by highly experienced ECC Staff Coaches and ECB coaching and development staff.

Each country has been asked to nominate up to two coaches/development officers, who are active within the country.  Nominated individuals must either be a minimum ECB Level II coach or work in development for that County Board/Association. Countries should be reminded that the deadline for nominations is the 15th October 2004.
