SUCCESSFUL CONCLUSION TO INAUGURAL YOUTH FESTIVAL
The Isle of Man Youth Cricket Festival concluded on Friday in a Presentation at King William's College, after a successful week in which all the scheduled 20 games were played to a conclusion.
In the under 13's league, winners were Turf Sports Management from New Delhi in India, whilst the under 15's league was won by the team from
Wokingham & Bracknell, both sides scored maximum points by securing victory in each of their four games.
The one success for an Isle of Man side came in the under 13's league where the Island side chased down a score of 125 set by the Wokingham & Bracknell junior side. The winning runs coming from a four hit in the penultimate over to allow the local side to achieve 127 for 8 wickets.
Event co-ordinator Trevor Baker commented:
" The Festival has exceeded our expectations both in its execution and the quality of cricket played.
Equally, the feedback from teams was positive with all saying they would like to return next year.
It was certainly an eye-opener to watch the Turf Sports side from India who's standard of cricket would have given some local senior sides a run for their money !
All in all this has been a fantastic success both for cricket and the Isle of Man and I'm delighted to say that the Isle of Man Cricket Coaches Association fully intends to host another Festival in 2006 "
