Nussbaumer brothers and Moherndl shine in fine win over Jersey Under-19s
David Piesing
Guernsey made it 6 wins out of 7 in the 2006 age group inter-insulars with a convincing victory over Jersey on Wednesday at KGV. The Nussbaumer brothers, Jamie and Luke, had a day to remember, as did their father David, the team manager.
Batting first after winning the toss, Guernsey made 257 for 7 in their 50 overs. Skipper Jamie Nussbaumer led the way with 91 from 122 balls, putting on 142 with Kris Moherndl (68 from 66 balls). Both players head for Scotland with the seniors next week. Jersey did not help their cause by bowling 34 wides. Sam Dewhurst took 2 for 36 from 10 overs, while N Sharma (2 for 37 from nine overs) and H McLachlan (2 for 19 from three overs) also chipped in.
In reply, Jersey were bowled out for 164 in 41.3 overs, with only M Seymour, coming in at number 9, making a significant score with 43 off 41 balls. Seamers Jonny Warr (1 for 16 off seven overs), Chris Dravers (1 for 27 off seven overs) and Kris Moherndl (3 for 23 from 5.3 overs) did the early damage but legspinner Luke Nussbaumer then ripped out the tail with 4 for 32 in severn overs.
