Salemites and Deloitte to contest GCA Trophy Final
David Piesing
This year's GCA Trophy (contested at weekends by Evening League clubs from the top three divisions without any Championship-registered players being eligible) will be between Salemites and Deloitte after Sunday's semi-finals.
At KGV, Deloitte were bowled out for 140 against Taverners but bounced back to bowl out Taverners for just 94, with Guernsey under-15 legspinner Ben McVey ripping through the Taverners batting to take 8 for 29. Only Gary Cook with 22 made a significant contribution for Taverners. Earlier, Rory Hills (34), Neil Fitchet (24) and Paul Finn (22) had combined to post the majority of Deloittes' runs, while young Will Peatfield took 5 for 17 for Taverners.
Meanwhile at Port Soif, St. Martins were bowled out for just 54 by Salemites, for whom Ralph Anthony took 4 for 7 and Jason Wright took 3 for 21. Saints gave their opponents a major scare by taking 6 wickets before Salemites reached their target in just 13.5 overs, with Brett Marquand taking 5 for 18.
