In reply Jersey were 172-1 with 4 overs to spare thanks to a second wicket partnership of 152 runs between Peter Gough, who scored 82 not out, and Matt Hague, 59 not out. Jersey managed to qualify for Tuesday’s semi-final on a better run difference than Israel, who were also on three points following a no result between the two sides. Jersey will now face the winners of Group 1, Germany. Originally Greece finished at the top of Group 1 and Germany second, but Greece lost all their win points for for fielding players who failed to meet the ECC player eligibility criteria. If Jersey win their semi-final they will meet either Norway or Gibraltar in the final of the 2006 European Division 2 Cricket Council Championships later this week. Guernsey failed to progress to the semi-final after they lost to Greece by 9 wickets and finished behind Germany and Gibraltar.
