Ossie Van Moor Memorial Match Report
webmaster
An Ossie Van Moor memorial match between Mechelen CC and a BCF Chairman's XI took place on Sunday 10th September in Hombeek. Ossie was a most popular figure in Belgian cricket and so many people turned out to show their love and affection for the great man.
An opening ceremony before the match was attended by Koen Anciaux, the Burgemeester of Mechelen and many of his friends from cricket, rugby, hockey and football.
The BCF Chairman, Ken Farmiloe, presented a plaque to Steve Van Moor in remembrance of his father. Unfortunately the willow tree that was to be presented to Steve was stolen during the week before. However, a replacement tree will be presented to MCC soon. Speeches reflected the sadness felt by all who attended but also reminded us of the happy times when Ossie was around.
The cricket match, for the record, was won by the host club by a small margin and MCC provided an excellent curry supper afterwards.
