Germany at the first Czech Junior Tournament
The first international junior cricket event to be held in the Czech Republic took place at the Townshend International School in Hluboka, 21-22 October 2006. 28 children aged between 4 and 15 took part in a series of three test matches between the Czech Republic and Germany. Play took place across the valley from the famous 13th century castle, later remodelled on Windsor castle in the 19th century.
The fine weather contributed to a very enjoyable weekend on which many children were playing their first competitive cricket. The final outcome was a 2-1 victory for the Czech Republic after hard-fought, close matches played in a good spirit by both teams.
