Ted Vorzanger to step down
webmaster
Ted Vorzanger, BCF Vice-Chairman and Chairman of the League,
has given notice that for personal reasons he will retire from the BCF at the coming AGM.
His experience and counsel will be sorely missed and impossible to replace.
As many of you will be aware, Ted was awarded the ECC Lifetime Service Award this year – and for good reason.
He has held a crucial role in Belgian cricket and its development for the past four decades.
He has played for Belgium, managed Belgian National teams, hosted many foreign teams and umpired league matches, friendlies and internationals.
But it is in the administrative field that his influence and work have been so tremendous.
It has extended from the development of Royal Brussels CC through to the establishment of the Belgian Cricket Federation and beyond.
He has been Chairman of RBCC for some 28 years, Chairman of the BCF League, Vice-Chairman of the BCF and is a past Chairman…
with all that those roles entail in terms of time, effort and input along with a vast reservoir of good humour and dedication to our sport.
Ted’s playing highlights include both the 150th and the 175th anniversary matches of the first ever cricket game played in Belgium in 1815
– although he is constantly at pains to point out that he did not actually play in the original.
While the BCF may be losing Ted from its committee, the good news is that he’ll continue to grace the precincts of RBCC.
We all wish Ted and his lovely wife Monique a long, happy and healthy life together in their new home.
