BCF National coach boosting cricket all across Flanders
webmaster
At the grass roots level, cricket is getting a welcome boost thanks to the splendid work of BCF National coach, Fazil Mahmoud.
Journeying from his new found home in Mechelen, Fazil is fast making his way round schools across Flanders to spread the gospel of cricket amongst the Flemish schoolchildren.
Visiting a total of 14 schools on a regular basis, Fazil’s time is stretched to the limit.
Paul Larivière, the National Development Manager, who prepares and organizes Fazil’s visits to all schools,
reported on the new initiative saying, “The response and reaction of teachers and pupils is absolutely tremendous and I am sure Belgian Cricket will benefit from this in the long run”.
In addition, 14 PE-teachers from schools all over Flanders attended the Introductory Course at the Scheppersinstituut in Mechelen on 9th December.
The enthusiasm and dedication was second to none and all participating teachers left with a lot of newly acquired skills under their belt.
This will surely benefit their pupils and will make sure that the in-school effort started off by Fazil, will continue when he’s not around.
Martin Gregson, Chairman of the Belgian Association of Cricket Coaches and 5 Level I Coaches assisted Fazil with the organization of the practical part of the day.
