Two wins for Guernsey's under-11s
David Piesing
Guernsey's Under-11s beat Jersey and the Isle of Wight in recent representative matches.
On their tour to the UK, Guernsey beat the Isle of Wight by 73 runs after making 211 for 8 in 40 overs and bowling out the home side for 138. Thomas Ap Sion top-scored for Guernsey with 68, while opening bowler R Harris took 4 for 8 to decimate the Isle of Wight's top order.
In their inter-insular at Jersey's Victoria College, the home side were restricted to 133 for 4 in 40 overs, with E Corbec making 40 and L Valdis 30 not out for Jersey. In reply Huernsey slipped to 50 for 5 but a fine 70-run partnership between Toby Belton (46) and Felix Rice (19) hauled them back into the game. With two needed off the last ball, Luke Phillips was dropped off a skier and the two runs were scampered to seal a hard-fought 3-wicket victory.
Jersey got some revenge in the Under-12 inter-insular in Guernsey, winning by 23 runs after making 161 in their 38 overs.
