Island XI game v MCC halted by the rain

Island XI v MCC at Tromode 13th June
The game unfortunately had to be abandoned mid-afternoon after the heavens opened and the Tromode pitch became unplayable. Earlier the Island XI side had made 181-9 from it's 50 overs after losing early wickets. Readditt with 4-48 was the pick of the MCC bowlers and he inflicted the early damage getting rid of openers Max Stokoe (2) and Ollie Webster (8). When Mark Williams was bowled behind his legs by James Nicholls for 9 the Island side were struggling but Christian Steriopulos and Jon Norrington re-built the innings before Norrington was caught off his gloves attempting to sweep Jones for 30. Steriopulos (33) was joined by Nic Hawke (33) and the pair put together a useful partnership of 63 before they both departed chasing runs. A rare failure from Graeme Garrett saw the score plummet to 144-7 before skipper Rob Webber played a very good knock of 25 not out off 28 balls and helped by the tail get the score up to 181-9 after the 50 overs. Unfortunately, as the players headed for lunch the rain started and was to prevent any further play in the match.
