M.C.C 2007 Tour to Belgium

MCC Tour 2007

The London-based Marylebone Cricket Club, known around the world simply as MCC, will be touring Belgium in late June 2007. The club will play a series of matches against Belgian teams and conduct a coaching clinic for youngsters and newcomers to the game.

The touring party will be received by the Mayor of Ghent at the Ghent Town Hall on Saturday 23 June before playing their first match against a Cricket Vlaanderen XI at the Claeys Brouüaert Ground in Mariakerke, Ghent. The MCC will play three other matches during their tour, including a 50 over clash against a full representative Belgium on Sunday 24 June in Mechelen, a Twenty20 match against a BCF Chairman’s XI on Wednesday 27 June in Rumst and a final match against Belgium U19s on Thursday 28 June in Ohain. Click here for a full schedule of the tour including match formats, venues and starting times.

An official dinner will be held at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Antwerp on Monday 25 June at 8pm. All those willing to attend this dinner should contact the secretary (jeremy.mckenna@cricket-belgium.com) with a list of guests. The cost of the dinner will be confirmed shortly.

Founded in 1787, MCC is not only the oldest cricket club in the world but also the most active, playing in excess of 500 out matches a year both in Britain and such far away places as China, the Middle East, Latin America, South-East Asia, USA, Australia… indeed in every continent and region where cricket is played. As copyright holders of the Laws of Cricket and universally-regarded guardians of the game, MCC play an active role in helping to develop cricket in areas beyond its traditional foot hold. During their visit to Belgium, Belgian players will profit from some healthy competition and quality coaching.
