Scotland's cricketers depart for South Africa on Wednesday, to take part in the inaugural ICC Twenty20 World Cup.

The Scots have two warm-up games in the Johannesburg area, against Bangladesh (September 8) and Zimbabwe (September 9), before travelling to Durban, where they will play Pakistan (September 12) and India (September 13) at the Kingsmead Stadium in the televised tournament. Two teams from the initial pool of three progress to the Super-Eights stage of the tournament.

Scotland's captain Ryan Watson, who was born in Zimbabwe and raised in South Africa, is under no illusions about the task ahead. "Of course we are the underdogs," he said. "But in the short version of the game, there is a better chance for the minnows to spring a surprise, and that's what we aim to do."

The Scottish team will be gathering at Glasgow Airport to check in at 12 noon on Wednesday, to board the two o'clock Emirates flight to Dubai, from where they will connect to the Emirates service to Johannesburg the following day.
