"This photo really sums up what European cricket's all about," said ICC Regional Development manager Richard Holdsworth. Patrick Henderson was honoured for his tireless work in transforming youth cricket in Switzerland during his continuing two year spell in charge of the junior development program. This year Switzerland sent an under-15 team to an international tournament in Tegernsee, Germany, which will be followed by an under-15 and under-11 competition in Vienna later in May. Further to that, Switzerland will host its first ever youth tournament in Zuoz in June during which it is hoped an all-girl's team will take part. The youth program is thriving with ever increasing numbers taking part mainly in Zurich, Geneva and Basel.

Patrick has also organised for ECC coaches to visit Switzerland from England on two occasions to train volunteer coaches up to ECB Level 1 qualification. As a result Switzerland has a good supply of commited coaches to carry on the good work of bringing on the youngsters. The awards were presented by MCC Secretary and Chief executive Roger Knight and ECB Chief executive David Collier at the ECC President's Day at Lord's on May 14.
