Good response to new junior cricket initiative
Andy Bradshaw, Jersey Evening Post
Promising young cricketers have snapped up the chance to join a new Development of Excellence Scheme run by the Jersey Cricket Board and supported by new sponsors BlackRock. Each year age group, from U15 down to U10, have been invited by the JCB to enrol on the coaching programme and the response has been excellent.
JCB Director Chris Minty said, "Players have been given the opportunity to come and improve their skills; the invites went out to selected cricketers in the various age groups and the response has been excellent. We have had our first sessions and everyone who attended was extremely enthusiastic working on all aspects of their games."
With Jersey cricket now involved on the international calendar, there are excellent opportunities for its players and the Programme has been put in place to help develop competent players to represent the Island, the Channel Islands and progress further if appropriate.
