Young Manx players at ECC Centre of Excellence camp in La Manga

IOMCA

Castletown's Bradley Marshall and Cronkbourne's Alasdair Slack are in Spain for the prestigious ICC Centre Of Excellence camp.

They join 25 other players, all aged between 13 and 17, from fourteen countries at La Magna. This is an annual camp and involves five days of intensive training by top coaches. The facilities include two pitches and a four-bay artificial net facility.

ICC Development Officer Richard Bedbrook says the idea is "to identify and select a crop of the most talented young cricketers in Europe within these age groups and provide them with the chance to develop their talents. There will be excellent coaching and support services for them to achieve their potential".

Also in attendance are 14 leaders, one from each ECC Country. They will take part in a separate coach education programme. The Island's representative is Stuart Marshall.

The Centre Of Excellence has for the past ten years been an integral part of the ICC Development Programme. It has developed year on year with standards rising considerably.

The Manx boys will be taught by some of the best coaches in the world and thanks are due for this opportunity to Isle of Man Bank, main sponsor of Manx Cricket.
