NEW Jersey Cricket Board coach Peter Kirsten was able to have a good look at his Island players over the weekend.
And despite suffering two friendly defeats by Guernsey at Grainville he was impressed by what he saw.
The matches were arranged so that the former South Africa Test captain could see his players in action for the first time ahead of the JCB’s World Cricket League Division V debut next month.
Jersey were defeated by four wickets in a 12-a-side match on Saturday, when Steve Carlyon top-scored with 58 runs, his half-century coming up in 107 minutes off 75 deliveries.
Carlyon also featured in a second-wicket partnership of 104 with captain Matt Hague, who made 39. Chris Jones also batted well with 38 off 60 deliveries.
