Total Cobo won the 2009 GCA Championship in style with a crushing 84-run victory over runners-up PKF Wanderers at KGV.

Cobo were helped by a truly woeful fielding performance from Wanderers who let slip a promising position of 47 for 3 to concede 246 for 5 in 45 overs on a low, slow wicket on which a score of around 200 looked to be par.
Skipper Stuart Le Prevost cashed in with a fine 88 despite being dropped or missed several times after he had passed 50, while Jonny Warr made an aggressive unbeaten 58 at number 6 and TJ Ozanne thrashed a quick 18 at the death. Pierre Moody picked up 3 for 54 but it was a day for Wanderers to forget in the field.

Wanderers continued with the bat where they had left off in the field, collapsing to 16 for 4 against fine swing bowling from Warr (3 for 16 in 9 overs) and veteran Mike Kinder, and it was left to Moody (54) and Andrew Boyce (24) to salvage some respectability by getting Wanderers to 162 all out with more than 3 overs remaining. Luke Nussbaumer picked up 3 for 35 with his leg-breaks but in truth Cobo had the game sewn up inside the first 10 overs of the Wanderers innings.

In winning the truncated GCA Championship, reduced because of the new CI League, Cobo did so without even dropping a single bonus point.
