Geneva CC are 2009 Pickwick cup winners.
Sangam, SCA Competitions Chairman
Geneva won the Pickwick Cup Final played at the newly laid Notts Wicket at Basel on Saturday, the 22 August under the perfect cricketing condition and a sunny day.
Geneva CC, having won the toss, elected to bat and scored 195 for 9 in alloted 35 hours. There were no big scores, but almost every batsman chipped in with scores in 20's. A good team effort against a very good bowling and fielding by Power Winterthur.
Power Winterthur CC found it hard to coup with accurate and hostile bowling spell from the bowlers of Geneva. Kamran Mohammad ( 4 for 7), Munawar Raja (3 for 9), Aamir (3 for 14) and Saeed (1 for 7) gave no room to the otherwise strong batting line up of PWCC.
The bowling was also well supported by Geneva fielders. E.g: Good catch by Syed Armughan in the slips, Rizwan Raja's single handed catch almost on the boundry line on long mid-on, Mishra holding a sharp one at deep gully and two brilliant caught-behinds by Khurram Alvi behind the stamps were the salient moments of the day.
Power Winterthur were all out for 40 in 16 overs.
Geneva CC lifted the PickWick Cup Trophy for the 3rd Time since its inception in 2004.
It was a wonderful game in which both teams played in the best spirit of the game of cricket.
