DWS

The ICC European U17 Division 2 Championship has been expanded to a 10-team competition format and will now commence on 24 July 2010. The Isle of Man has been confirmed as host for this Championship division and will welcome Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Hellas, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland to its shores for its first ICC European event.

The decision was announced by the European Office at Lords Cricket Ground on 22nd December 2009

The tournament will be played for the first time on a mixture of turf and synthetic pitches based at various grounds around the Island. The two turf pitches at King Williams College in Castletown will be used daily as will the turf wicket at Cronkbourne CC's ground at Tromode, in Douglas the Island's capital. The remaining fixtures will take place on the synthetic pitches at St John's CC ground, Mullen-y-Cloie and Marown, home of Crosby CC.

It is a big first for Island cricket and every effort will be made to provide first class facilities to all guest countries and ensure they enjoy a superb cricketing experience.
