Ireland cricket team shave or dye

Cricket Ireland

The Ireland Cricket Team lent their support to the Today FM 'Shave or Dye' campaign this morning live on the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show. The fundraising campaign for the Irish Cancer Society saw members of both the team and management shaving or dyeing their hair.

The team underwent the transformation today in Dubai, where the team are currently based as part of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier 2010 which takes place from February 9-13th.

Among those taking part were coach Phil Simmons, Captain William Porterfield, former skipper Trent Johnston, the O'Brien brothers, John Mooney, Gary Kidd, Andre Botha, George Dockrell and Paul Stirling.

Former skipper Trent Johnston commented “We were delighted to help out with such a worthy cause, and be able to put back something as cricket has been good to us.

"We had great fun choosing the various colours and the fact that nearly all of them got involved meant everybody really got into it. We reckon Kevin's looks the best, and it's only fitting as he wins his 100th cap tomorrow. Hopefully we'll be able to have a photo with the trophy by the end of the week and qualify for yet another World Cup.”
