Following Erwin Grasinger's two-month stay in Australia as part of the Crusaders CC scholarship programme, where he was joined by young Italian player Yohan Kariyawasam, Italy and Austria welcomed a Crusaders player to their ranks during May and June.

Brent Hutchinson, who spent a summer in England playing for Amersham CC in 1999, spent time with Lazio CC in Italy and Vienna CC in Austria, playing for both sides as well as training with the teams and offering players invaluable tips. His presence on the field for Vienna CC was particularly notable, with 80 from 82 balls vs reigning Austrian Open League champions Concordia CC, and an impressive performance in the field.

His presence in the side undoubtedly assisted the Austrian National Team players who played alongside him, such as Tim Simpson and Erwin Grasinger, even if his running between the wickets was so quick that he looked capable of coming back for a fourth run whilst his partners were still midway through their third! Hopefully his presence in the side will rub of on the players as they prepare for the ECC European Championships.
