CC GenĖve Win Cossonay Cricket Festival

The sun shone for the sixth Cossonay Cricket Festival on 17-18 August, when CC GenĖve fought off opposition from hosts CC Cossonay, Winterthour, GenĖve Sri Lankais, and a team made up of players from CERN and Royal LČman (Thonon-les-Bains, France), to lift the cup.

The teams played a round-robin competition with points awarded for runs, wickets and winning. A couple of very close matches kept everyone on the edge of their seats, with GenĖve and Winterthour sharing the winner's points after making the same number of runs off 160 balls in their match on the Saturday, and the match between Cossonay and CERN/Royal LČman only being decided by a huge six of the 158th ball by the latter's captain. The results and final placings were:


Cossonay beat GE Sri Lankais by 7 wickets
GenĖve beat CERN/RL by 88 runs
Cossonay beat Winterthour by 18 runs
GenĖve beat GE Sri Lankais by 10 wickets
Winterthour and GenĖve drew, 143 runs each
GE Sri Lankais beat CERN/RL by 80 runs
CERN/RL beat Cossonay by 4 wickets
GE Sri Lankais beat Winterthour by 3 wickets
Winterthour beat CERN/RL by 7 wickets
GenĖve beat Cossonay by 127 runs
