A representative team from the dÈpartement of Gers recently defeated a team from Lot et Garonne in their annual fixture on the ground at the Isle de Noe ch’teau. Jean Claude Rieudebat (event organiser, Damazan CC president, mentor of a certain David Bordes in his formative years, and all round pioneer of cricket in south-west France) awarded the young player of the match award to 10 year-old John Ainger. John Ayling (IoG), who prepared the pitch along with Jean Claude, is upgrading facilities in South West France and has done a wonderful job on the Damazan CC ground near the Bordeaux/Toulouse motorway exit for Aiguillon. John is putting a further all weather pitch in place on the square and will be using the old all weather pitch for net practice, all done without any outside support. Touring sides have been complimenting him on the quality of the ground.
