European Umpiring Consultant Returns to Denmark
4 November 2002
Graham Cooper returned to Copenhagen for the weekend of 26-27 October, where he conducted a Revision Course for the members of the DCF Umpire Project. The course was designed to test the students' knowledge and application of the laws to prepare them for the stringent ACU&S Special Overseas Examination later this year. Five enthusiastic umpires were put through their paces by means of long discussions and some written work. The discussions were very lively and debates raged long into the night - well over dinner at least. They were left with a Mock Exam to try, and Graham looks forward to seeing their efforts with interest. The aims of the Project Group are to become Qualified Members of the ACU&S and go on to undertake training courses of their own at which they will teach the laws to prospective umpires throughout Denmark. To aid the latter, Graham left a copy of the ECC Introductory Umpiring Course for them to translate into Danish so that non-English speaking candidates can easily understand the laws. The other benefit of the Course is that the CDs contain many photographs that illustrate the laws very clearly - again making teaching and learning so much more easy and enjoyable. Our best wishes go out to the Group firstly, for the exam and secondly, for the work that lies ahead for them.
