Big Plans for Finland
5 February 2002

The FCA are looking to expand the Finnish championship from the present 4-team structure to a 7-team league which will result in cricket being played on every weekend from May to the end of September.

This will include a team that will be 100% Finnish! To facilitate this, they are hoping to acquire a Flicx pitch, to be kept in Helsinki, which would provide facilities for 4 of the above teams, as well as the new ladies team established in 2001, and the schools coaching programme.

Other plans for the season include a visit in June from Krishna Lester and his team the "Strays" from Saumur CC in the Loire Valley, France, and a guest fixture, still to be confirmed, with the crew from the international "cricket film" Lagaan, to celebrate the gala presentation of the movie at the Helsinki Film Festival in September.
