Luxembourg starts indoor league
25 February 2003
The Luxembourg Cricket Federation has started an indoor league, involving seven teams, with weekly Sunday afternoon sessions between late January and mid-March. In order to ensure competitive cricket, a pool of Luxembourg's better players has been formed and divided among the weaker teams. This is proving very successful in practice, as no team need start a game knowing it has little or no chance of winning. As well as providing cricket activity during the winter, the LCF's aim is to develop a squad for the 2004 European Indoor Championships. The sessions so far have proved enjoyable for players, umpires, scorers and spectators alike. The hall used is somewhat smaller than would be ideal, but this has not detracted from the enjoyment. The ECC indoor rules, which were explained by Ralph Dellor at the inaugural "practice" session in December, are applied.
