Irish youth on tour
25 February 2003

Following the completion of the Inter-Provincial series that is being held in Dublin (1-3 July), the Leinster U13 squad will head for the picturesque and historic city of Durham in the North East of England to compete against other squads from Scotland, Holland and England in a weeklong cricket festival. Accommodation will be at Durham school, with fixtures being played at both the school and local university grounds.

It promises to be a great experience for the squad who will also get to see a County match at the nearby Riverside ground, which will, by then, have become a full Test Match venue.

In the meantime, Gordon Black and Greg Molins will take the Leinster U19 squad to Malvern School to participate in a tournament involving Malvern, Rugby, Charterhouse and Leinster from 7-9 July.

The Leinster squad will stay an extra day to play against Worcestershire U19s. Later in the season, the Leinster U15s will be travelling to Wolverhampton (11-15 August) to take part in the Staffordshire Youth Charity Festival. Participating counties include Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Herefordshire, Staffordshire, Lincolnshire, Cumbria and Cheshire.

The trip will provide the boys with a great opportunity to play five days of competitive fixtures against strong opposition on good pitches within local school grounds. Progress is also being made in arranging a 3-game tour for the girls' U18s against Warwickshire CCC during August.
