Ken Amos sweats it out in Greece
4 March 2003

No it was not the temperature in Greece that caused the sweat. It was the airline that had lost the case with the overheads and the exam papers etc. I had one copy of the exam in my hand luggage and a copy of Tom Smith. All I had to do now was spend the afternoon remembering and compiling the complete intro-course from Tom Smith. News from the airport the case would should arrive that evening!!!! George Poulimenos and his flotilla of ladies had every confidence that the case would arrive. It did - delivered to the hotel at 10 o'clock that evening. Saturday would be a very long day!!

And indeed it was, but it was very enjoyable. All the participants were keen and the time raced by, so much so that we had a lunch of take-away pizza in the late afternoon. We pressed on well into the evening and it was George who suggested we stop as he was beginning to feel weak from lack of food and drink. The local taverna was excellent and I was pleased to stop talking and down some very pleasant Greek red wine. Medicinal of course. Very soothing to a tired voice.

Sunday we started early. The cricket women had been up even earlier and baked cakes for the coffee break. They would do more than credit to any English cricket tea. The exam completed the day with a bit more sweating, this time by the participants. Everyone agreed that the course had been well received and understood.
