Scotland on top form in NCL
May 28, 2003

Scotland have maintained their excellent run of form in the National Cricket League, following victories over Durham and Somerset with a 41 run win over Lancashire at Old Trafford on 25 May.

Despite the absence of James Anderson and Andrew Flintoff, Lancashire were firm favourites. The Scots worked hard to post a total of 192 for 8, thanks to a pair of 60s from Greig Williamson and Colin Smith, but Lancashire looked to be in control at 61 for 1.

Things started to go awry for Lancashire, however, after Mal Loye fell for 38. Carl Hooper was run out for 2, and Stuart Law and Glenn Chapple were dismissed in the same over by Craig Wright, as Lancashire floundered to 92 for 6. Peter Martin hung in for an unbeaten 29, but ran out of support as Scotland moved into second place behind Northamptonshire.
