Narrow defeat for Scotland in NCL
June 17, 2003

Scotland's NCL match against Somerset at Taunton on 15 June saw the hosts scrape home by one wicket in a thrilling finish. Rahul Dravid pulled out the stops for Scotland with a commanding 120 not out, including 10 fours and three sixes.

Following a third-wicket stand of 67 with Ryan Watson, who scored a stylish 75, Dravid then put on a further 100 with Jon Kent (48). Having struggled to keep on top of the Scottish batsmen, who finished on 296/4, Somerset set up an enthralling run chase with good innings from Carl Gazzard (81) and Jamie Cox (82 off 78 balls).

The wickets went down steadily thereafter, however, and they appeared to be in trouble on 254 for 7. Captain, Michael Burns, saved the day for Somerset with a calm 34 not out, which saw his team home with five balls to spare.
