inexperienced squad finished in sixth place having recorded just one win, against
Denmark.Dutch coaches pass exams
An important aspect of developing European cricket centres on coach education. If qualified coaches are available to go into local schools and clubs to promote cricket, there is every chance that the game will become established. Holland has been at the forefront of this campaign, and on Tuesday 21st March 8 more candidates were assessed by Dutch coach Steve Lubbers and visiting ECC coach Ralph Dellor. All 8 were successful. Now it is important that they use their qualifications. They need to go out and become involved with their local communities so that not only do more Dutch children start playing cricket, but so that those already playing become more skilled.Umpiring Seminar in Helsinki
Brian Canniford, an ACU&S Grade 1 Umpire, recently ran a two day Umpiring Seminar in Helsinki, Finland, for the Finnish Cricket Association. Included in the group were four Estonians who travelled from Tallin. This seminar was at the request of the FCA and was held in the centre of Helsinki over the weekend of 8 and 9 April. The attendance of 23 delegates demonstrated the commitment of the organisers of cricket within Finland. All clubs were represented.

ECC thanks to everyone in Luxembourg, especially Ben Lyon, for ensuring the weekend was a success.Laws Symposium in South West France

The course, which was run by Tom and Geoff Lowden, an ACU&S instructor. At the conclusion, each attendee was assessed by means of a short written test paper. Geoff Lowden will be running another course in France on 29 and 30 April this year.Oporto Symposium
