Umpiring
AFNEC (Association Francaise des Nompaires et Entailleurs de Cricket) is the only Association for Cricket Umpires and Scorers in France. Its aim is to promote umpiring, attract new members, train new members, ensure ongoing training for members aspiring to climb the qualifications ladder and uphold the high standards set by the major cricketing countries. It appoints umpires for the major international tournaments involving all the French national teams and important games in France. It is affiliated to the ACU&S in England and receives assistance from the ECC in the matter of training.
The Association has its own badge and publishes a quarterly bulletin, Le Nompaire.
Many of its members have stood in the ECC Division 2 Championships and 1 representative stood in the ICC Trophy in Toronto in 2001. Some have experience in many European, Asian, African and American countries.
The new President, David Rhodes, is a keen advocate of keeping its members up to date with the ever changing laws and has negotiated umpiring exchange agreements with Belgium / Luxembourg and Germany.
