Sporting Alfas II claimed top spot of the Northern League this weekend when securing maximum points over a weakened Intellectuals team..

In the first meeting between local rivals Mojacar and Albox in the Southern section of the league, Mojacar came out convincing victors by 136 runs.

The Intellectuals, based around Alicante open their League programme on Sunday 27th May against Sporting Alfas II. Team selection and forthcoming fixture list is now available..

Recently Spain hosted an ECC Level 1 Umpires Course co-ordinated by ECC staff member Ken Amos. Ken will also be the tournament referee at the forthcoming Under 15 tournament in La Manga. CE took time out to interview Ken during his recent visit.

Last month saw Alfas host the SGS club from the Netherlands. SGS (Still Going Strong) is predominately an Over 40's club from different parts from Holland. With some of them fresh from visiting Argentina for the Carcamanes Festival they had then embarked on a week long tour of Spain that saw them have mixed fortunes with the weather and with results.

Two games were played earlier this month between the Spanish and Irish Under 15's at La Manga. In both instances Spain were narrowly beaten against a strong Irish outfit that highlighted the positive state of cricket in Ireland at the moment.

Sporting Alfas started their season in fine fashion with successes for the Saturday and Sunday sides against the respective touring teams of Harpenden and Tottenhoe. Harpenden did provide some resistance in their encounter with the Alfas midweek team and prevailed in the penultimate over for the only blemish to date on the Alfas season.

Cricket España invite nominations from clubs for candidates for a ECC Certificated Umpiring Course to take place at La Manga in either the 2nd week, or the 3rd week of May.

Would you please note that after consultation with participating countries, we have changed the dates of the Under 15 2nd Division Championship.
The Championship will now start on 26th August (arriving 25th August) and finishing on 1st September (departing 2nd September). The tournament's previous dates were 24-30 August.
The dates have been amended to help ease accommodation arrangements during high season at La Manga.

The AEC is pleased to announce that a ECC level 1 coaching course has been confirmed for La Manga from the 19th-21st January 2007.

Yet again the wonderful facilities at La Manga have proved enticing for two country cricket clubs.Both Yorkshire and Kent will head to Spain has part of their pre-season training.

With the Columbus Oval at Albir being available to the AEC for the third time in as many weeks the association made full use of the facilities and had its second combined ladies and juniors match similar to the one that proved so successful on the 19th November.
The teams comprised of numerous ladies who have been training every weekend for almost a year now, and juniors, the youngest of whom was just six years old

An AEC Junior XI showed just how much progress has been made this season by putting up a spirited display in a narrow defeat to a strong Sporting Alfas Sunday side.

This week will see Spanish women take part in their first game of cricket in a long time. The match comes as a result of much hard work put into training and recruitment and is a great step for Spanish cricket, which at the start of the year had little or no women participating in the game.

Sinsen CC of Norway emerged winners of the 2006 La Manga 20/20 trophy with an exciting last ball win over Ticknell CC of Derbyshire.

The Dutch Nat team came to the Costa Blanca and played at La Manga Cricket Club Murcia, Spain. It was the perfect combination of business and pleasure and your dreams a reality when you play cricket at this resort.The ladies had one week of training and two matches against the men of Spain. First was a Costa Blanca XI with some Spanish juniors who took part, in which the ladies came top beating the men and on the Sunday they took on La Manga Cricket Club in a 45 over match, that they lost to La Manga CC but it was a close game, going all the way. The ladies choose La Manga to train with this ideal Mediterranean climate and the outstanding quality of the pitches and practice facilities they had. Spain wish them the best for the coming season and hope to see them back in Spain, at La Manga Club.
