Both matches at ICC Under-19 World Cup Qualifier Europe Division Two were fairly one-sided as Denmark U19 and Netherlands U19 both came out as victors.
Denmark U19 made it two out of two as they came out on top against Guernsey U19 at VOC. There were some very strong batting performances by the Danish batters with Oliver Hald top scoring with 75 runs including 10 fours and three sixes. There were also half centuries for Shangeev Thanikaithasan (57, including 10 fours) and Saud Munir (54, including seven fours). The pick of Guernsey U19 bowlers was Daniel le Messurier as he took four wickets for 15 runs in seven overs. Denmark U19 finished on 243 all out in 43.3 overs.
Guernsey U19 reply started strong with openers Ant Stokes (30) and Naim Guillbert (16) putting on a good start. With Daniel le Messurier (16) and Declan Martel (26) adding to the overall total, before a collapse in the Guernsey batting line up, as they went from 92 for four to 128 all out. Jonas Henriksen was the outstanding bowler for Denmark U19 taking four wickets for 14 runs in 7 overs. Guernsey U19 made 128 all out in 34.1 overs and Denmark U19 won by 115 runs.
In the other match hosts Netherlands U19 got its first win in the tournament at Salland CC; after winning the toss they elected to bat. There were some strong batting innings, but the star of the show was captain Bas De Leede who scored 76 runs not out including four fours. He was assisted by opener Remco van der Giessen (29, four fours) who got the team off to a strong start, Boris Gorlee (28) and Sebastiaan van Lent (17). As the Dutch put on 197 for 7 in its 50 overs.
Italy’s response was short-lived as Luuk Kroesen took three wickets for 21 runs in his 10 overs. The highest score for Italy was Riccardo Meade who scored 21 runs from 37 balls including two fours. Siddiq Mehran was the only other Italian player to get into double figures scoring 13 runs. The Italians were bowled out in 39.4 overs and the victory went to the Dutch.
