Denmark U19 keep 100% record; Guernsey back to winning ways

Denmark U19 continued its 100% record at ICC Under-19 World Cup Qualifier Europe Division Two with victory against Italy U19 by 172 runs at VRA. Denmark U19 batted first with contributions from all batters.
The star of the day, however was Saud Munir who scored 106 runs from 128 balls including seven fours. He was assisted by a quick fire 62 by Oliver Hald which included six fours and one six and Azaan-Ur-Rehman (35). The runs flowed and Denmark U19 finished on 280 for 5 wickets in 50 overs.
Italy’s reply was slow and never really got started as wickets fell regularly, with only Riccardo Meade showing any resolve with 34 runs from 74 balls including three fours. Siddiq Mehran (13) was the only other player to get into double figures as Denmark U19 ran out winners by 172 runs.
Guernsey U19 got back to winning ways on the third day of competition at Excelsior, beating Netherlands U19 by 52 runs.
A great innings by Declan Martel who scored 60 runs including four fours from 57 balls was the stand out performance by Guernsey’s batting side. Openers Lewis Drummy (24) and Anthony Stokes (24) with three fours a piece added to the total. Olivier Elenbaas was the pick of the Dutch bowlers taking four wickets for 41 runs in 10 overs. Guernsey U19 finished on 211 for nine in 50 overs.
The Dutch reply was again centred around captain Bas de Leede who scored 42 runs including three fours, with Boris Gorlee adding 26 and Sebastiaan van Lent (23) helping the chase. However, wickets fell regularly as Jack Birch took 3-17 in six overs, and victory was with Guernsey U19 by 52 runs.
